HR Director


POSITION OVERVIEW
• Directs and champions all Human Resources (HR) and environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) functions across a workforce of ~550 employees in Mexico.
• Participates in strategic HR-EHS planning, and leads execution of the strategic plans.
•Collaborates closely with a wide variety of internal/external stakeholders, including: Business Unit Leaders; Plant Leaders; PSG’s global HR team; Steel Partners’ HR-EHS team; vendors, consultants and governmental entities.
• Utilizes metrics, Kaizens, RCCA and other methods to continuously review and improve existing HR-EHS programs and processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
EHS-Develops and champions EHS programs, policies and processes that support the achievement of ZERO Lost Time Reportable Incidents, a healthy and safe workplace, and compliance with laws/regulations.

This includes- Safety Committees and Emergency Response Teams;
• EHS audits and inspections, with timely execution of corrective actions and improvements;
• Communications and programs that increase employee engagement in a Culture of Safety;
• Management of Workers’ Compensation claims and Leaves of Absence;

Talent-Guides Leadership in the pursuit of a High-Performance Culture that supports the achievement of Business Unit and PSG objectives by championing programs and processes to recruit, reward and retain top talent.
These include:
• Talent acquisition processes;
• Performance management and feedback processes;
• Talent Review and Succession Planning processes;
• Intern/Co-Op programs;
• Development planning processes;
• Employee recognition and reward programs;
• Employee feedback programs;
• Community and morale programs and activities.

Goal Alignment-Drives annual goal setting and goal review processes, ensuring alignment with the Company’s annual objectives and long-term strategic direction.

Compensation-Develops compensation strategies and oversees salary administration, including developing/administering job classifications, leveling, salary banding, and merit/promotional increase practices.

Benefits-Administers Company benefits plans and wellness programs.

Governance and Compliance-Is responsible for the Company’s compliance with applicable employment and EHS laws/regulations, ensuring updates to programs, policies and processes across all sites globally.

Travel-This position is based in Mexicali. 25-33% of the time will require travel to/working in Tecate. There will be occasional international travel to the USA and China

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
• Requires 10+ years of related experience gained through increasingly responsible Human Resources management positions for manufacturing/industrial organizations.
• Requires 5+ years experience successfully managing high-performance teams, including recruitment, development, engagement and performance management.
• Experience must include Union relations. Union avoidance program experience preferred.
• Experience must include knowledge of, and responsibility for, EHS.
• Must have prior responsibility for HR-EHS in Mexico. Prior responsibility for HR-EHS in the USA is helpful.
• Experience must demonstrate successful use of metrics and analysis to drive results.
• Experience must demonstrate successful use of Kaizens, RCCA and other methods to drive continuous improvement.
• Experience must demonstrate successful management of multiple projects and priorities.
• Requires superior bilingual Spanish/English communication skills, verbal and written.
• Must be proficient in PC/Microsoft and HCM/HRIS systems.
