Business Analyst IT


External Description: The Business Analyst IT oversees all project phases in the development and support of IT automated projects for a functional area. He/she works closely with the user to identify business problems and recommend the most appropriate Information Technology solution. The Business Analyst concentrates on defining system requirements, managing the business specifications development, coordinating the technical activities of the project to meet the business specifications, planning and executing systems test, and training the user. He/she supervises assigned support resources in their project related activities, and performs the administrative and documentation tasks associated with the project. The Business Analyst may sometimes work independently, but always under the Corporate IT business alignment and general direction.

Masters Degree in Business Administration would be a plus.
Minimum 4+ years of experience in the management, development and support of systems in client server, mid-range or enterprise server computing environments. Very strong knowledge of the systems development life cycle and solid experience in all phases of systems development.

Very strong knowledge of structured analysis, design and programming techniques; user requirements definition; interviewing and data collection techniques; programming languages and file access methods; system utilities and development tools; application software packages; computer aided software engineering (CASE) development; conversion activities; testing methodologies; implementation procedures; and PC-based packages used in the development or support of production systems.

Experience leading small to medium sized projects. Strong skills in project and people management. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Strong knowledge of company operations and business area being supported.

Broad technology awareness that can be applied to the solution of business problems and opportunities. Excellent business problem solving ability.

Provides a leadership role in system analysis assignments, including creating detailed automation project plans, conducting user interviews, defining IT business requirements, researching manual vs. automated systems, performing alternative analysis, and making recommendations associated with the development, testing and implementation of systems in client-server, mid-range, and enterprise server environments.
In conjunction with Mexico Operations team, IT Corporate, and plant users, defines the requirements for systems being developed for a functional area, and develops the scope for individual projects.
Participates in the development of IT business specifications for assigned projects, and coordinates all other user and systems development activities. Ensures total project is in accordance with departmental and Corporate standards.
Functions as the primary contact with user management and takes the lead role in resolving automation project issues.
Manages and/or conducts system testing, user acceptance testing, conversion, and user training. This includes the development of detailed test plans and systems acceptance standards, detailed conversion plans, user procedures manuals, and training materials for any company Automated Manufacturing System or any other automation-driven project.

Organizes and manages individual projects or portions of large projects. This includes the identification of project tasks, organization of project teams, and development of detailed project work plans, supervision of assigned staff, management of project budget and completion dates, and project reporting to Information Systems management and mid-level user management.
Oversees the technical management of the project and ensures project efforts are coordinated to meet project objectives, budgets, and completion dates.
Oversees the support effort for assigned production systems.
Reports to management on support efforts and issues.
Confers with Mexico Steering Team, Plant Managers, Business Unit Managers, and Corporate Information Systems in direction-setting activities.
Maintains a high degree of technology awareness of hardware and software in areas of project responsibility.

Works on teams and building teaming skills as part of IDP.
Participates in team meetings as an active member in team activities
Provides status report to direct report on projects as required.

Maintains on-call calendar with his/her availability time.
Participates in on-call support duties along with the Help Desk, addressing issues in timely manner.
Serves as liaison and trainer to the Help Desk on IT related matters pertaining to all Mexico Plants.
