Operations Manager


POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the direct & indirect supervision for product lines and is the principal interface between management and the hourly workforce. Supervise and direct activities of assigned personnel and assure work is performed in accordance with safety policies, procedures, requirements and standards of the plant and program. Assists in the development and implementation of new programs and techniques.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a manager/supervisor and three (3) years of high volume production/manufacturing experience. FRICTION AND LASER WELDING A MUST (Strong knowledge or experience)
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the direct & indirect supervision for product lines and is the principal interface between management and the hourly workforce. Supervises and directs activities of assigned personnel and assure work is performed in accordance with safety policies, procedures, requirements and standards of the plant and program.
Assigns work in accordance with the schedules and parameters established by higher levels of supervision. Makes recommendations into hiring, discipline, and termination decisions. Diagnoses equipment or process difficulties and take timely, corrective action.
Ensures maintenance on assigned equipment and buildings is performed during immediate situations. Critical issues are reported to higher level. Prepare performance reviews of assigned personnel and make recommendations for salary adjustments. Conducts operator trainee performance reviews and provide recommendations for permanent status. Maintains operations with allocated resources and reduces costs by improving techniques and production equipment. Maintains proper housekeeping standards in all areas.
Ensures that waste from process operations are collected, containerized and labeled in accordance to all applicable environmental regulations. Assists in investigating the source of cause for chemical spills and/or process waters in coordination with the safety department. Develops work procedures. Assists in the development and implementation of SOPs, MOIs, SIs and similar documentation on new programs and new techniques. Trains production employees in machine operation and procedures.
Ensures on-going improvement in internal and external quality levels.
Recognizes and takes proactive role in correcting or changing conditions to ensure a safe work environment. Coordinates improvements to work areas to improve productivity, enhance quality levels, reduce scrap, and minimize work-in-progress within established guidelines. Maintains good labor relations with employees and union representatives in accordance with contract, plant rules, and regulations. Reviews and submits time charges and labor allocations. Supports and participates in cross-functional team activities. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work will take place in a combination office/shop environment. Employee may be required to work weekends, holidays, and be on-call on occasion. While performing the duties of this job, employees may be exposed to mechanical or chemical processes requiring the use of personnel protective equipment.
